In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury issued “amero” coins.
On August 31, 2007, conservative talk radio personality Hal Turner claimed to have been given an Amero by a “U.S. Treasury Agent.”
These are, however, fantasy coins or medallions manufactured by a company called DC (Designs Computed) coins, Denver, Colorado.
